Sunday 11 October
All people that on earth do dwell
1 All people that on earth do dwell,
sing to the LORD with cheerful
Serve him with joy, his praises
come now before him and rejoice!
2 Know that the LORD is God indeed;
he formed us all without our aid.
We are the flock he surely feeds,
the sheep who by his hand were made.
3 O enter then his gates with joy,
within his courts his praise
Let thankful songs your tongues
O bless and magnify his name!
4 Because the LORD our God is good,
his mercy is forever sure.
His faithfulness at all times stood
and shall from age to age endure.
William Kethe 1500’s.
O Lord, you are my God;
I will exalt you,
I will praise your name;
for you have done wonderful things,
plans formed of
old, faithful and sure.
2 For you have made the city
the fortified city
the palace of aliens is a city
it will never be
3 Therefore strong peoples will
cities of ruthless
nations will fear you.
4 For you have been a refuge to
a refuge to the
needy in their distress,
a shelter from the
rainstorm and a shade from the heat.
When the blast of the ruthless was
like a winter rainstorm,
5 the noise of
aliens like heat in a dry place,
you subdued the heat with the shade
the song of the
ruthless was stilled.
Blessed are the merciful Matt 5:1-7
One day as he saw the crowds
gathering, Jesus went up on the mountainside and sat down. His disciples
gathered around him, and he began to teach them.
God blesses those who are poor and
realize their need for him,
for the Kingdom of Heaven is theirs.
God blesses those who mourn,
for they will be comforted.
God blesses those who are humble,
for they will inherit the whole
God blesses those who hunger and
thirst for justice,
for they will be satisfied.
God blesses those who are merciful,
for they will be shown mercy.
Psalm 23 The Lord’s my Shepherd
I believe in God, the Father
creator of heaven and earth.
I believe in Jesus Christ, his only
Son, our Lord,
who was conceived by the Holy
born of the Virgin Mary,
suffered under Pontius Pilate,
was crucified, died, and was buried;
he descended to the dead.
On the third day he rose again;
he ascended into heaven,
he is seated at the right hand of
and he will come to judge the living
and the dead.
I believe in the Holy Spirit,
the holy catholic Church,
the communion of saints,
the forgiveness of sins,
the resurrection of the body,
and the life everlasting.
Almighty and everlasting God,
increase in us your gift of faith
that, forsaking what lies behind
and reaching out to that which is
we may run the way of your commandments
and win the crown of everlasting
through Jesus Christ your Son our
who is alive and reigns with you,
in the unity of the Holy Spirit,
one God, now and for ever.
The Lord’s Prayer
Our Father, who art in heaven,
hallowed be thy name;
thy kingdom come;
thy will be done;
on earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread.
And forgive us our trespasses,
as we forgive those who trespass against us.
And lead us not into temptation;
but deliver us from evil.
For thine is the kingdom,
the power and the glory,
for ever and ever.
