Holy Monday

Painting

Close the door of words

that the window of your heart may open.

To see what cannot be seen

turn your eyes inward

and listen, in silence.

Rumi

Mountain and lakeBut the silence in the mind

is when we live best, within

listening distance of the silence

we call God. This is the deep

calling to deep of the psalm-

writer, the bottomless ocean.

We launch the armada of

our thoughts on, never arriving.

It is a presence, then,

whose margins are our margins;

that calls us out over our

own fathoms. What to do

but draw a little nearer to

such ubiquity by remaining still

R. S. Thomas

When I am silent, I fall into that place where everything is music. - Rumi

Reflective water

Silence is a green, secluded garden,

Where you may walk at leisure, and

speak with the Beloved ...

Leaving the outer world of noise and hurry

To walk serenely on prayer's holy soil.

Silence is a garden sweet with fragrance,

Its grasses nurtured by faith's gentle rain,

Its every bloom a link with God,

our Creator.

Once you have wandered there,

you will return again,

And in the garden's beauty,

be made whole ...

In the Silence,

the quiet garden of the Soul.

 Altar 1

Wait for the Lord, his day is near

Wait for the Lord, be strong take heart

Prepare the way for the Lord

Make a straight path for Him

The Glory of the Lord shall be revealed

All the Earth will see the Lord

Rejoice in the Lord always

He is at Hand

Joy and gladness for all who seek the Lord

Bleibet hier und wachet mit mir.

Wachet und betet,

Wachet und betet.

Bleibet hier und wachet mit mir.

Wachet und betet,

Wachet und betet.

Bleibet hier und wachet mit mir.

Wachet und betet,

Wachet und betet.

Bleibet hier und wachet mit mir.

Wachet und betet,

Wachet und betet.

Stay with me, remain here with me, watch and pray!

Stay here and keep watch with me. Watch and pray, watch and pray!

Watch and pray not to give way to temptation.

The spirit is eager, but the flesh is weak.

My heart is nearly broken with sorrow. Remain here with me, stay awake and pray.

Father, if it is possible, let this cup pass me by.

Father, if this cannot pass me by without my drinking it, your will be done

Nothing disturbs you, nothing frightens you;

Nada te turbe, nada te espante;

Whoever has God lacks nothing.

Quien a Dios tiene, nada le falta.

Nothing disturbs you, nothing frightens you:

Nada te turbe, nada te espante:

God alone is sufficient.

Sólo Dios basta.

Nothing disturbs you, nothing frightens you;

Nada te turbe, nada te espante;

Whoever has God lacks nothing.

Quien a Dios tiene, nada le falta.

Nothing disturbs you, nothing frightens you:

Nada te turbe, nada te espante:

God alone is sufficient.

Sólo Dios basta.

From Beth:

Spring is here, a Season of growth, renewal and hope. Even in this time of worry and uncertainty there is hope in the signs of kindness that we can show to each other, our families, friends, neighbours and even strangers. Even in a time of tragedy there is the hope of triumph, because the tragedy of Christ's death led to his triumphant resurrection.

During the course of this Holy Week, Lord, help us not only to remember Christ's passion and death, but to recognise the result of that for our lives, for through that death and resurrection have been given to us new life and new hope. All the burdens of our lives will lead to little personal triumphs where we will share more closely in Christ's life and enjoy the hope of future life which he has given us. Father, hold us all in your loving embrace.

Lord, in your mercy,
hear our prayer.

That this evening may be holy, good and peaceful,

let us pray with one heart and mind.

Silence is kept.

As our evening prayer rises before you, O God,

so may your mercy come down upon us

to cleanse our hearts

and set us free to sing your praise

now and for ever.

Amen.

Keep us, good Lord,

under the shadow of your mercy.

Sustain and support the anxious,

be with those who care for the sick,

and lift up all who are brought low;

that we may find comfort

knowing that nothing can separate us from your love

in Christ Jesus our Lord.

Lord, in your mercy, hear our prayer.

Almighty God,

as we stand at the foot of the cross of your Son,

help us to see and know your love for us,

so that in humility, love and joy

we may place at his feet

all that we have and all that we are;

through Jesus Christ our Saviour.

Amen.

Visit this place, O Lord, we pray,

and drive far from it the snares of the enemy;

may your holy angels dwell with us and guard us in peace,

and may your blessing be always upon us;

through Jesus Christ our Lord.

Amen.

Our Father in heaven,

hallowed be your name,

your kingdom come,

your will be done,

on earth as in heaven.

Give us today our daily bread.

Forgive us our sins

as we forgive those who sin against us.

Lead us not into temptation

but deliver us from evil.

For the kingdom, the power,

and the glory are yours

now and for ever.

Amen.

Peace, peace,

My peace I give you all

Don’t let your hearts fail.

Jesus, remember me when you come into your kingdom. Jesus,

remember me when you come into your kingdom.
