Make your mark!

- Be part of the future

- by contributing to the first major new building work at Harston Parish Church for well over a century-and-a-half.  Work to build the Servery and Lavatory will take several months, but will be completed before the end of 2015.

The work has started:

The Servery will include a special sink for the flower arrangers.

The Lavatory will have facilities for the disabled as well as a baby-changing unit, so that we can cater for all.

Harston Church has served the village at least since 1096, the first record of a Church in Harston.  Countless feet have trodden the path to the Church over that time.  Why is there any need for further building?  It will really help the Church, as a place of welcome and support, to have lavatory facilities and means of catering.

The Church can be used for many more community events such as concerts and meetings. Harston Church touches many lives: some regularly week-by-week and others when people come to mark the great stages in the passage of existence - from birth through marriage to death, from times of celebration to times of sadness. You may not regularly attend church, but you may wish to contribute to bringing our village Church up-to-date for the benefit of the village as a whole.

The stringent laws which apply to Grade 2 Listed Buildings - the annexe has to match the existing building - make it expensive. In addition, we need to be connected to the mains water and sewage system.

We are very grateful indeed to Wedd Joinery which has generously offered to make and supply the doors and cupboards.

If you would like to make a contribution towards this important Church Development, you can contribute from as little as £10, or you may like to consider sponsoring a stone block carved by the mason for £50 . Nearly £90K (of a target of £100K+) has been raised so far; any excess amount raised will go towards the much needed redecoration of the interior and updating the seating. Please copy and print the section that follows.
