Newton Village Hall was decorated with multi-coloured Chinese lanterns as we ate our way through three courses from three continents; starting in China, on to the Deep South of the USA for a main course of Jambalaya and sticky ribs, and finishing with a wonderful selection of sweets from Norway made by Karin Frans, a native of that country.
With each course, music from that country was played and appropriate costume was displayed on stage.
Norway’s costumes vary from area to area and are very different so there were two from that country; Karin’s own, which is from Oslo:
and one from Lillehammer.
It was good to see people present from all three churches in the Benefice and judging by the hum of chatter ‘a good time was had by all’ – and we raised a healthy amount for St Margaret’s Church funds.
Many thanks to all who helped with occasion, especially the cooks and servers – you all deserve a medal!
